Andy Rubal began his musical career in Cuba at the age of six, as a singer with the group Baby Salsa. He later turned to classical piano and, in 2013, earned a degree in composition from the Instituto Superior de Arte in Havana. He became the musical director for Waldo Mendoza and toured Europe and the United States with flutist Orlando Valle “Maraca.”
Andy has also worked as an arranger for Raul Paz, Juan Guillermo, Semino Rossi, and Gabriel Tchiema. In 2016, he released his first album, El que Busca Encuentra, under the EGREM label, which earned him a nomination for Best Salsa Album by a New Artist at the 2017 Cuba Disco Awards.
Now based in Montreal, Andy has made a name for himself on the local scene, performing at venues such as the Montreal International Jazz Festival, Upstairs Jazz Bar & Grill, and the Festival Nuits d’Afrique. In 2022, he released the EP 75°, featuring a duet with Florence K titled Moi Ton Roi. His track Enamorado en Montréalbecame a hit in the salsa community, with over 16,000 streams. In December 2023, he directed and headlined the show Nuits de la Havane at the Montreal Casino. In 2025, he embarks on a summer tour with Ricky Campanelli across Europe, the United States, and Canada.
Andy is set to release a new album in fall 2025, blending his Cuban roots with Montreal influences. Several singles have already been released, including Cantarle Un Son with over 200,000 streams and Dímelo Nawe, which surpassed 6,000 streams after just one month. After a successful tour — with performances at SunFest in London, Ontario, Zouk du Sud, and the Festival des Traditions du Monde — Andy Rubal is ready to charm the world with his new music!
